‘Underrated’ Taiwo brought aura to Super Eagles – Yobo
The ex-Everton and Nigeria star reviews affectionately his time in the national group, where he praised the left-back for his massive effect
Joseph Yobo recommends that Taiye Taiwo carried a great deal to the Nigerian national group, refering to his "quality" as a key explanation behind his influence.
After a great trip with Nigeria at the 2005 U20 Fifa World Cup in the Netherlands – where he was named third-best player, the left-back was drafted into the senior national group under mentor Augustine Eguavoen.
Taiwo turned into a moment hit in the Super Eagles side gratitude to his quality and speed as his impact developed. One of his features was his relentless freekick which gave Nigeria a 1-0 win over Ghana on his Africa Cup of Nations debut in 2006.
In a visit with Goal, Yobo uncovered that he had a decent connection with everybody in the crews he played in, yet was not modest from conceding the impression made by the tough protector.
"Everyone in the national group were my companion since I began early and furthermore turned into a pioneer right on time too. So I folded my hands over everyone and delighted in each minute in the Super Eagles," Gernot Rohr's partner told Goal.
"In unadulterated genuineness, one individual who got my extravagant when he went to the national group was Taiye Taiwo.
"I watched him play for Nigeria U20. At that level, I cherished his shots and how he was playing forcefully; I really wanted to hang tight for the time he would graduate to the senior national group.
"Also, that came through for him when he made his Super Eagles debut. He is such an upbeat and loveable person."
