Dayak Abuja Open: Nigeria's Christopher fits the bill for fundamental draw
Edward Christopher of Nigeria on Sunday qualified for the principle draw at the qualifiers match of the ITF Men's Singles Circuit of Dayak Abuja Open.
Christopher beat Mostafa Hatem of Egypt 6-3, 6-0 to fit the bill for the headliner.
Talking with the News Agency of Nigeria uninvolved of the game, Christopher said he would try to exceed expectations in the following round of matches.
"I will try to play my best tennis so as to intrigue our supporters and make Nigeria pleased.
"I will jump at the chance to state a major thank you to the coordinators of this competition for working admirably for Nigerians and impacting the world forever for Nigeria and for drawing in players from various nations to come to Nigeria to play the sport of tennis,'' he said.
In different matches played at a similar scene, David Pel from Netherlands crushed Delmas N'Cha of Benin 6-1, 6-4, while David Chaplefeh-Forchap from Germany beat Neeraj Elangovan from India 6-4, 6-4.
Anvit Bendre of India pushed out Nigeria's Aliyu Shehu in two straight sets 6-3, 6-4 while Ilija Vucic from Serbia crushed Johannes Myburgh of South Africa 6-2, 6-1.
Zack Mccourt of U.S. additionally whipped Argentina Agustin Moyano in two straight arrangements of 6-1, 6-4.
