WHO proclaims Nigeria Polio free
The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced Nigeria liberated from wild polio, following the culmination of documentation for the free status.
The UN wellbeing office unveiled this on its provincial office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, official twitter account @WHOAFRO.
"Today, Nigeria's finished documentation for Wild Polio infection free status was acknowledged by the Africa Regional Certification Commission for polio annihilation (ARCC).
"It is a memorable day for Nigeria, Africa and the Global Polio Program,'' WHO said.
In the mean time, Dr Faisal Shuaib, Executive Director and CEO of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), in a tweet at @drfaisalshuaib depicted the documentation as verifiable.
"Stunning crossroads in history to have had our polio-annihilation documentation acknowledged by (ARCC); the Nigeria group drove by NPHCDA and accomplices exhibited proof of our without polio status.
"Nigeria accomplishing a Wild Polio sans virus status today, is critical on various fronts.
"I glance back at the staggering authority that has brought us here.
"Aside from President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, the two most notable individuals who have made it conceivable because of their monetary and innovative commitments have been Mr Aliko Dangote and Mr Bill Gates.
"A debt of gratitude is in order for this unquantifiable blessing to Nigeria,'' he said. (NAN)
