Rape: IG orders probe of D’Banj

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has requested a test into the charges of assault leveled against Music Icon, Oladapo Oyebanjo otherwise known as D'Banj.

This is contained in a letter with reference number CB.7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOl.484/801 marked by the Principal Staff Officer to the IG, DCP Idowu Owohunwa.

The letter was routed to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

The IG's letter was in light of a request kept in touch with the IG by Mr. Tommy Ojoge-Daniel, a legal advisor to Miss Seyitan Babatayo, who blamed D'Banj for assaulting her in 2018.

The letter composed by the IG is named, 'Re: Petition Against (1) Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (Aka D'Banj) for Rape Indecent Sexual Assault, Attempted Assault on Miss Seyitan Temidayo

The letter read to some extent, "I forward herewith duplicate of letter dated June 5, 2020 got from Ojoge, Omileye and Partners on the above underlined subject. I am to consciously pass on the order of the Inspector-General of Police that you treat.

"Acknowledge the affirmations of my regarded respects please."

Seyitan's companion, Benjamin Ese, in a Twitter string toward the beginning of June had recounted to the tale of how D'Banj purportedly assaulted Seyitan at a lodging two years prior – in December 2018.

She said it occurred at an all-white gathering where D'Banj purportedly offered her companion some cash to go through the night which she dismissed until he shockingly appeared in Seyitan's lodging around 2 in the 12 PM.

"D'Banj drove right from Eko inn where he was held up and came down to happiness inn in Victoria Island at 12 PM 2.40 am and gathered the extra key from the assistant," Ese said in the string which has since started a shock.

She said D'Banj purportedly "got into my companion's room and mightily compromised he would walk her out of the room bare, kept his fingers in her vagina and over and again assaulted her."

The assault understanding, Ese said had caused Seyitan some injury since the episode occurred.

One month after Ese's tweets, Seyitan came out openly to introduce herself as the woman who was supposedly assaulted by D'Banj in December 2018.

The artist, in any case, denied the charges leveled against him and requested that his informer make an open statement of regret and furthermore pay him the aggregate of N100m in harms.
