Mythbuster: Ferguson knocked Liverpool 'right off their f*cking perch'

Sharer: Liu Chan June 24, 2020 at 6:46 am

At the last part of September 2002, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was a man under tension. Or then again, in any event, that was the means by which it was being depicted in the press.

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal had won the Premier League at Old Trafford the season previously and now United were six focuses behind the Gunners, in the wake of winning only three of their initial seven highlights, losing twice simultaneously.

Previous Liverpool safeguard Alan Hansen asserted that Ferguson was confronting "the best test of his vocation".

His kindred Scot, however, was having none of it.

"My most prominent test isn't what's going on right now," an insubordinate Ferguson revealed to The Guardian. "My most prominent test was thumping Liverpool directly off their f*cking roost. What's more, you can print that."

Ferguson was naturally pleased with the way that United had usurped the Merseysiders as the prevailing power in English football. At that point, they had won seven top-flight titles in the time since Liverpool's latest triumph, in 1990.
