‘He is not an outright striker’ - Leicester City’s use of Iheanacho questioned by Ugbade
The Nigerian football symbol demands the talented forward isn't being played in his best position, which has prompted inquiries of his structure
Kelechi Iheanacho's battles for reliability at Leicester City are down to the Premier League outfit playing him out of position, says Nduka Ugbade.
The Foxes were named to have pulled off a significant overthrow when winning the race for the Nigerian from Manchester City.
Nonetheless, the 23-year-old is yet to arrive at his potential at King Power Stadium.
Nigerian football extraordinary, Ugbade – who worked with Iheanacho as right hand mentor of the Nigeria U17 and U2 groups, accepts an inappropriate methodology is being taken with the star.
"Iheanacho's mentors must realize how best to utilize him," he told Goal.
"He isn't an out and out striker yet he can play behind the fundamental striker to give helps while scoring objectives.
"Myself and Manu [Garba] know him well indeed and we recognize what he can do. All he needs currently is getting standard playing time to get himself once more into the game."
