Intel Partner Connect program: Company incorrectly shows its processors as more powerful than AMD’s Ryzen
ntel and AMD have been locking horns since years when it comes to performance and the processor market share for PCs. Over the years we have seen AMD catching up to Intel’s offerings and in some cases, giving better and more powerful options now. But it looks like Intel is kind of ‘cheating’ to show that it still leads over AMD processors, as reported by Digit.
Apparently, Intel showed some slides during its Intel Partner Connect program, wherein its processors were incorrectly shown as better performing than AMD chipsets. The tests were not fair and were meant to show Intel in good light.
One of the slides compared the Intel 10th-gen Core i7-10750H processor powering MSI GL65 with the Asus Zephyrus G14, which was powered by AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS. The comparison here was not a legit one as the GPU in Intel-powered MSI is the Nvidia RTX 2060 Max-P version, which is more powerful than the Max-Q version found in the AMD-based Zephyrus G14.

The difference here is that Max-P version has a TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 90 watts, which is considerably more than 65W in Max-Q and gives the processor some extra room for flexing its muscles. Another difference is in the boost clock speed of 1560 MHz in RTX 2060 Max-P and 1186MHz in RTX 2060 Max-Q.
Another anomaly that was noticed was how Intel chose toc compare its processor with the Ryzen 9 4900HS-based PC instead of Ryzen 9 4900H. For those unaware, the ‘HS’ version has a lower clock speed with lower single and all core turbo as compared to 4900H.
Intel even chose a not to known Magix Fastcut Plus video editing software to test its video encoding performance, instead of using more popular Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
Intel is however, yet to give a statement on it. However, we won’t be counting on it.
This comes a couple of months after Intel introduced its 10th-gen Intel Core S-Series desktop chipsets. The processor comes with some new overclocking enhancements including new overclocking knobs and refreshed Intel Extreme tuning utility with graphical enhancements and new feature support.
