Xiaomi’s next phone could house slot for TWS wireless earbuds, like Note’s stylus
Xiaomi is experimenting with a new smartphone design that can also accommodate TWS wireless earbuds. The company has also acquired a patent for the same.
Spotted by LetsGoDigital (via Gizmochina), Xiaomi’s new phone has a notch-less display with standard volume and power buttons on the side. The display appears to have a flat-like look and feel to it.
The highlight is the ability of the phone to house the TWS wireless earbuds. The patent, however, does not reveal how actually the system works. The images published by LetsGoDigital show the TWS earbuds attached to the top of the phone and can be inserted inside to some extent.
The concept seems very similar to Samsung’s design for the stylus on the Note series. The difference is that Samsung has aced the stylus-phone combination. In the case of Xiaomi, TWS earbuds are too big of a device to be housed in a phone. Xiaomi patents a new phone design with built-in TWS (LetsGoDigital) Gizmochina in its report also points out the challenges with the design wherein the company may have to compromise on the battery size to make the system work.
Nonetheless, it’s still a concept and definitely solves a problem for those who don’t want to carry separate boxes for TWS earbuds or want to charge their buds on-the-go.
That said, this is the second interesting patent from Xiaomi that has appeared online. Earlier this month, we came across a new concept smartphone which features a wraparound display and a transparent back panel. Filed at CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration), this concept Xiaomi phone had 5G connectivity and a 108-megapixel Super Camera with AI.
